Valentines Day Movie Ideas
It's almost Valentines Day. Some of you will treat your special someone to a night out on the town, with dinner, a movie, maybe some flowers and champagne or chocolate. Others will choose to have a romantic evening at home, with home delivery pizza and a movie rental. Both can be equally as lovely, as it's truly the expression of love that matters most - not the venue where you utter said expression of love.
For those of you who choose to stay in on Tuesday night, here are some suggestions for movies to rent. Some of these don't obviously scream "romance", while others are a given. Check it out and maybe you'll discover a new movie that is destined to become one of your all time favorites!
1. While You Were Sleeping, with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman. This is the classic story of girl has secret crush, then unexpectedly finds herself in a relationship with him, only to discover she really loves someone else. The supporting cast is phenomenal in this movie, and it's a delight. Very funny too. And what's more romantic than laughter?
2. Atonement, with James McAvoy and Kiera Knightly. THis is NOT your typical love story. But the scenery is breathtaking (as is that gorgeous green dress), it's set in England during WWII, and the acting is really top notch. I would have to label this a romantic tragedy, but it's nonetheless one of the most romantic movies I've ever seen (and that scene in the library is the most erotic love scene ever!).
3. Casablanca with Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. Everyone knows what you're talking about when you mention this title, but suprisingly some people have never seen it. It's worth your time. Even if only to watch Dooley Wilson (as Sam, as in "play it again, Sam ") sit at the piano and sing As Time Goes By.
4. Top Gun with Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. Fast planes and motorcycles for the guys, that awesome scene by the jukebox for the ladies. It's a win-win situation.
5. 10 Things I Hate About You with Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger. I'm a grown woman and I love this movie, even though it is set in high school. I like movies where opposites attract, and the dynamic between the dad and his two daughters is really great. Check it out.
6. Gnomeo and Juliet, animated movie featuring Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy voice talents. Come on, it's Romeo and Juliet as portrayed by Gnomes. 'Nuff said!
7. Casino Royale, with Daniel Craig and Eva Green. A good looking spy by the name of Bond - James Bond, an awesome luxury car, beautiful women, exotic locations and handy dandy gadgets. Something for everyone.
8. The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Beautiful scenery, funny lines, and the re-emergence of Betty White. An epic combination.
9. The Phantom of the Opera with Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler. Another romantic tragedy, but Gerard Butler's portrayal of the phantom almost makes you wish he'd kidnap you! Andrew Lloyd Weber's phenomenal score is superior, and the stage sets are spectacular.
10. Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Even the fact that you already know how it ends can't keep you from watching it all the way to the end. It's a long movie, and the scenes of the days aboard the unsinkable ship are riveting. You identify with the characters, and want to somehow scream loud enough to reach into the screen to tell them to abandon ship before it's too late. Great acting, tragic ending, and a history lesson as well.
There you have it...my quick list for this year. It was hard to narrow it down to only 10, but there's always next year! Now go buy a bottle of wine or champagne, have strawberries and whipped cream or a box of decadent chocolate, throw a log on the fire to set the mood, and pop the movie of your choice into the DVD player. And whatever else may happen as you're snuggled up together on the couch is nobody else's business. Happy Valentines Day!

Nice selection of movies. Maybe me and my fiance will watch a couple of them. Thanks
I love "While You Were Sleeping." I saw this movie with my then boyfriend, now husband about fifteen years ago. And I still think it's one of the greatest romantic movies.
